Angaar (1992)

Stroryline: This movie portrays the problems of Mumbai lower class due to the nexus of criminal gangs and the fight against them by an angry young man Jackie Shroff. Though movie is typical for a one man fight against corruption similar to the Amitabh Bachhan movies and strongly resembles Arjun by Sunny Deol; still movie receives credit for strong performances by Kader Khan, Nana Patekar and the silent yet powerful acting of Jackie Shroff. The real-estate builders want to wipe off the slums in Mumbai and make five star hotels for fast profit. Jackie Shroff is struggling for a job and also pressurized by his family problems. While Nana Patekar’s gang is trying to isolate the slum, they get a head-on with Jackie and face repulsion. Nana’s brother Mazhar Khan goes to beat Jackie but gets killed by him during a fight. Nana kills Jackie’s father which ignited a fury to extinguish his evil empire. Though Kader Khan is actually the Don and father of Nana, he only uses his powers to give justice to the poor and not oppress them. He detests Nana’s activities but is unable to stop him. He tries to persuade Jackie to forget the whole episode, but Jackie rejects and goes on his spree to destroy Nana. He places bombs in the illegal building constructions by Nana and eventually kills him. Dimple is ornamental as she was in Arjun, but looks graceful. Jackie was stunning and the movie also has a few good songs.

Auzaar (1997)

Stroryline: Yash Thakur (Sanjay Kapoor) and Suraj Prakash (Salman Khan) are two inseparable friends. After completing their studies, they go their different ways. Yash takes over from his father’s (Paresh Rawal) nefarious and mafia-like business, while Suraj becomes an officer of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). Yash’s dad is attacked by a rival, and he loses the use of his leg and is confined in a wheelchair. Yash marries his sweetheart Prathna (Shilpa Shetty). After completing his training successfully, Suraj is assigned the investigation against his friend, Yash, which shocks Suraj, but which he accepts. Yash’s dad’s contacts are many, and soon Yash also comes to know of Suraj’s job, and his assignment. Suraj must now convince Yash that his father is not what he appears to be, and at the same time take criticism and pressure from his superiors for not proceeding with the investigation against Yash.

Stroryline: SHAHRUKH is married to ANUSHKA but there is a huge age gap between them. There is no real romance in the marriage. Then, a dance reality show called “Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi” airs and ANUSHKA wants to participate but can’t because her husband is not hip and happening, she has a fear of losing and she also fears that her friends will laugh at her. SHAHRUKH overhears this problem and decides to go in for a makeover. He watches some movies and learns to dance in order to woo his young wife. Throughout the show ANUSHKA keeps falling in love to with this ‘new and improved’ SHAHRUKH KHAN without once realizing that he’s her husband. In the end, a justified title “Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi”

Milan (1995)

Stroryline: Raja (Jackie Shroff) is a small-time smuggler. His sweetheart, Priya (Manisha Koirala) does not approve of this, and convinces him to give up his smuggling activities, and turn the information over to the police. He does so, only to find that he has been framed for a murder he did not commit. When he decides to entrust himself to the justice of the courts, he is convicted of murder and sentenced in jail. In jail he encounters more problems, and needs all his wits to stay alive. Back to Priya, Raja’s former smuggling colleagues, including corrupt police officers are openly harassing her, and no one seems to be able to look after her. Raja must get out of jail to find out who has framed him, and who is the king-pin behind the smuggling ring. But will the authorities let Raja out of jail that easily?

Criminal (1995)

Stroryline: After witnessing the unfortunate death of a woman, who was unable to afford hospital treatment, Dr. Ajay Kumar cancels his U.S. immigration and instead sets out to work a plan to open a hospital that will be accessible to people who cannot afford treatment in regular hospitals, called “Amma People’s Hospital”. This draws quite an attention, and he becomes popular, especially with two young women, Shweta and Sub-Inspector Ramya. He falls in love with Shweta and both get married, breaking Ramya’s heart in the process. Shortly thereafter Shweta gets pregnant, much to their delight. Then one night, Ramya gets a distress call from Shweta, who calls the police for help as she is being attacked, and names the attacker as “Ajay”. The police arrive to find her dead body and arrest Ajay for murder. It seems that Ajay’s motive for killing Shweta was for money, as Shweta is a wealthy heiress. Ajay is convicted and sentenced to death. While being transported to prison, the police van meets with an accident and Ajay escapes. The police launch a manhunt for him, but are unable to catch him. Ajay secrets meets with Ramya and tells her that he did not kill Shweta, and he wants her help to catch the real killer. Will Ramya believe him, or is he just making up a story to justify his escape from facing the death penalty?

Baaghi: A Rebel for Love (1990)

Stroryline: The men in the Sood family have always been army men period. This is the tradition set by Major Sood, followed by his son, who is now a Colonel, married to Vandana, and father of an only son, Saajan. But Sood is unhappy with Saajan, as he feels that he lacks the discipline and vigor to be in the army. When he gets him the forms to fill out, Saajan refuses and is given 48 hours to change his mind. Then Saajan brings home a young girl, Kaajal, and introduces her to his mom, informing her that both of them are in love with each other and want to get married. When Vandana asks Kaajal about her parentage, she is told that Kaajal is a prostitute. A shocked Vandana tells about this to Sood, who beats Saajan and asks him to leave the house. Saajan takes Kaajal’s hand and they leave the house. A few days later, Police Inspector D’Souza knocks on Sood’s door, informing him that a complaint has been made against his son for abducting a young prostitute, commonly known as Paro alias Kaajal, and of beating several men who tried to stop him. Watch what impact this has on Colonel Sood and what he does to cleanse his family name.

Angrakshak (1995)

Stroryline: Priyanka lives a very wealthy lifestyle with her widowed politician father, Satyendra Pal Choudhary, who owes his allegiance to Bharatiya Ekta Party. As Satyendra’s popularity rises he fears for his life and that of his daughter’s and as a result hires some bodyguards for himself, and one bodyguard named Ajay for Priyanka. With the elections approaching, and Satyendra’s growing popularity creates some uncertainty with other political parties, as a result Priyanka is kidnapped and is Ajay seriously wounded and hospitalized. When the news is made public, a wave of sympathy moves in Satyendra’s favor and he is sure to win the election. Priyanka’s abductors demand two crore rupees, but before Satyendra could respond the police find a body of a young woman, who he identifies as that of Priyanka. A grieving Satyendra is shown on national television before a shocked nation, and he wins the election hands down. What the public do not know is that Ajay is a hit-man for an underworld don named Vellu, Ajay is known for his short-temper, which had resulted in the death of a young man named Ramesh, whose only crime was marrying Ajay’s sister, Asha, without his consent. The question remains why would a respectable politician hire a killer as his daughter’s bodyguard?
